“Make $1,000 a day from data entry jobs!”

“REAL data entry jobs - work only hours a day, make hundreds an hour!”

…You’ve read those ads, too? They claim that you can make hundreds upon hundreds a day by working just a few hours by entering data. It’s a nice thought, and we might day dream about it before we go to bed, or after we get a partially bad bill, but is it real?

Well, the short answer is no - you can’t make thousands a day spending just a few hours typing things up. But, if you have a decent word per minute rate on your computer, and have the talent to concentrate on a task that is largely repetitive… you can make a living doing it!

What Exactly is Data Entry?

Data entry, put simply, is taking something from one place and entering it into another. This can be anything from addresses to times, articles and more. And every company that’s bigger than a home office needs it - though the larger the company, the bigger their need for someone to enter various data.

Many small, and even medium sized businesses, do it within their own ranks, working double duty as an owner/operator and a data entry clerk. But as the businesses grows, they search for a way to bring more people in to enter their relevant data. Sometimes, they hire someone. Most of the time, however, it gets outsourced to a person or company who specialize in data entry.

That’s where you come in!

Companies are looking for people like you to outsource their data entry work, and they’re willing to pay decent money just to get the work out of their hair - after all, it’s much less expensive to pay you to do it, than hire someone and deal with the hassle that involves.

So What do I Need to do Data Entry Work?

Well, there are a few skills you should have before you consider starting data entry work - it’s not partially hard work, but if you don’t have the right skills, you can kiss your income goodbye!

The most important thing to have is the ability to do basically the same work over and over again without growing bored. If you’re the type of worker who’s always seeking a new challenge, always searching for something different, and never wanting to settle on just one thing… well, data entry sure isn’t for you!

But if you enjoy repetitive jobs like filing, and excel when you’re doing the same thing again and again, data entry could be a good choice. Some of us are better when we’re trying to do something need, different, and unique - there rest of us enjoy repetitive, near relaxing tasks. Like data entry!

Another thing you need is, clearly, a computer! Having a working computer with an updated version of the Microsoft Office Suite, plus an internet connection that’s faster than dial up, is vital to success. 99.9% of your clients will find you over the internet, after all - if you can’t keep up, you’ll be replaced.

You also need a strong work ethic, as you would for any business where you’re centered at home. If you can dedicate yourself to your work, concentrate on what you’re doing, and be sure that the every day distractions of being home aren’t going to bother you, you can do well.

It would take time, of course, to build a steady client base - and you’ll have to be completely dedicated to your work, and ready to put in the hours you need. But you can make a nice living with data entry, and you can live the life you’ve wanted. All you have to do is try!
