Working From Home… Doing Accounting Work?

Yes!

Believe it or not, you can do almost anything online, and accounting is no different. You can work in the comfort of your own home, in your home office, in your living room, or even at a coffee house with a laptop and a wireless connection.

And bookkeeping and accounting makes one of the best businesses on the web. It’s true; this isn’t some scam, and I’m not trying to sell you anything. If you have the knowledge and ability to work as an accountant, and the drive to make a better life for you and your family, you can make an incredible accounting business online!

But Why is Accounting Such a Good Business?

Accounting is mandated by law. That means that every business has to use an accountant each month for taxes, licensing, and more. Sure, some businesses - especially large corporations - hire massive firms to handle their needs. But what about the thousands (and I do mean thousands!) of small start up businesses that happen each month? Who do they use?

The answer is someone just like you, working from the comfort of your own home, in your own home office. Online and small companies can easily outsource their accounting and bookkeeping to you, saving them hassle, money, and letting you stay in your home while you make just as much, if not more, money than you would if you worked at a ‘real’ office.

I’m Nervous… How Can I Make This a Reality?

Most of us don’t have the money, or bravery, to just roll the dice and drop our jobs to try working online, especially when we’re sure if it’s not cut out for us. So… how can you be sure that this is right for you?

The easiest way is to start slow. Nab a client, maybe two, and find out how long it takes you. Do you have the discipline to work part time like that? Do you enjoy working at home and setting your own hours? Is this what you want with the rest of your life? For the next few years, before retirement?

Starting part time allows you to explore every venue available for you, and decide if this indeed is what you want. Even if you never go full time, working part time in accounting can bring in a very comfortable second income and help create a ‘nest egg’ for rainy days… or just buy what you’ve always wanted.

Bottom Line:

Can You Actually Make More Money?

A lot of people can’t. It’s the sad fact. If you cannot handle a client in 6-8 hours a month, if you can’t learn to work efficiently and - most importantly - if you can’t be self motivated, sit down at home, and start working… then this won’t be for you.

But if you can push yourself to get as much done in an hour as possible, if you’re able to force yourself to ignore the distractions of being home, and if you know that this is what you want to do… you can make enough money to support a very comfortable lifestyle.
