3 Recession Proof Home Businesses
The economy is in a recession, and it’s scary as hell for those who are finding themselves out of a job, with a massive pay cut, or in line for the chopping block. Most people don’t think to turn to home businesses for an option - but why?
A home business is actually more solid than a plain old nine to five… it’s your company, your working for yourself, and you can put in however many hours needed to make ends meat.
But what businesses thrive, even in a recession, instead of flopping like big companies? What can you start for little down that will keep you afloat even through the worst of times?
I’ve listed the top three home businesses that help you ride the tide of a recession - you can even flourish!
1) Health Care
Everyone gets sick - everyone needs something to make them better. And we are, first and foremost, a very health conscious nation. After all, organic food is one of the biggest growing sectors in the US today - and the recession isn’t even putting a dent into it.
The best thing you could do is go into natural health products. Setting up a website from a template isn’t very expensive, and you can work with wholesalers for the best products, and a payment plan so that you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to start.
If you’re not sure about selling actual products, a simple informational website (Or websites) with affiliate products and plenty of ad space is something that would bring in a lot of traffic. You could also sell ebooks on various health ailments, and bring money in that way, too.
Bottom line? Health care, especially natural health, is a huge industry, and that’s not going to change.
2) Computer Repair
Your average Joe isn’t going to have the money to drop on a brand new computer, so they’re stretching the life of their old ones as far as they can go - you can make a hefty income helping them do it!
Working from a home office, with the right tools, you can easily compete with the big companies. Because it’s ‘just you’, you don’t have to charge insane amounts (Not that we’re naming any names, Best Buy), and you have a faster turn around time than a company overloaded with computers and clients.
Basic computer repair isn’t difficult - and advertising doesn’t take much money at all. A few flyers, some brochures, and a few solid clients. Word of mouth will spread. It’s the nature of the business.
3) eBay
Don’t scoff - if eBay wasn’t making money, it would have gone out of business a long time ago. Now is the time to start an eBay business, believe it or not. Let’s follow this logic, for a moment.
People are selling things to grab a couple extra bucks. Garage sales are in full force, even in the colder areas, and churches are pushing the dates up for their annual rummage sales to get that money now.
People are also looking for cheap buys… no one wants to stop their spending entirely, right? Getting the luxury products they want, at a price they can afford, is the end goal of most shoppers.
You can pick up items cheaper than you might imagine from store sales (Can you say 75% off?!), garage sales, and rummage sales, turn them around on eBay, and make quite a bit of profit. Everyone’s looking for a bargain!
Keys to Remember when Looking Into Home Businesses
The best businesses to start during a tough time are those that answer basic needs - like health care. If you answer the most primal needs of a person, you’re going to get business no matter what. While ‘Gurus’ might be suffering because no one wants to read ‘The-Best-Ever-Way-To-Make-A-Million-In-a-Month’ that’s a bunch of BS, people do have their needs. Answering them is the best way to handle the recession, and stay on top of the game.
