Ready to learn the secrets of how to sell photos online? If you own a camera and you have an internet connection, you can make money selling your pictures, and the best part of it is just how easy this can be.

lighthouse1.JPGHow much do you think a picture of a lighthouse is worth? Would you be surprised to learn that this image taken with a simple point and shoot digital camera could be worth $500.00 or more? Imagine all the people looking for pictures of lighthouses to use on websites, brochures, in newsletters on coffee mugs and a zillion other places. Now imagine that you know how and where to connect with these people and that you know the secrets of how to get your photos found above others.

As you read on, keep in mind that a couple of assumptions are being made here. One is that you already take pictures and get a certain amount of enjoyment out of it. If that’s not true, than this probably is not the best way for you to make money online. The other assumption is that you want to make money as opposed to just share your pictures for free. There are places to share pictures for free, probably the best known being flickr, but that’s not what we’re talking about here.

Secret #1 Who buys pictures online -

Web Designers
Insurance companies
Teachers
Magazine Editors
Entrepreneurs
eBay Sellers
Scrap bookers
Lawyers
Realtors
Illustrators
Business People
Marketers
Travel agents
Graphic Artists
Clergy
Writers
Advertisers
Retailers

Okay, this is just a partial list, but the point is that when you know who is buying pictures online you’re in a better place to determine the best images to try and sell. If you have a special knowledge in one of the above areas, that may be your golden opportunity. Even if you don’t knowing who is buying will give you a good idea of what pictures to take.

Secret # 2 How to sell your photographs - The beauty of selling your images online is that there are so many outlets for your photography.

Stock photo companies want to help you resell your photos to others. Often this is in the form of royalty free photography where a person buys your image once and gets unlimited use to it. The economics of this are very attractive and lead millions of royalty free images being bought each year. There are at least 15 companies that want to sell your images for and that will allow you to start uploading the images from your hard drive to today.

If you can take pictures of cars, and who can’t, then you can start making money with ebay motors. There are people in your neighborhood right now that want to sell their cars and are even willing to give you a commission for posting their cars to ebay.

What about your images on t-shirts, coffee mugs, hats, hand bags and tons of other products. Through companies like CafePress you can upload your images, but them on just about anything you want and CafePress will sell them for you. You never have inventory cost, you never have to worry about getting a merchant account to accept credit cards because CafePress does all that for you.

Secret # 3 Keyword Research - Knowing what images people are interested in does at least 2 things for you. First it lets you know what to spend your time photographing. It doesn’t do any good to try and sell images of cows if no one is interested in buying them. Google, Yahoo! and Wordtracker all offer free tools that can help you with this research. For example using Wordtracker you’ll learn that over 50,000 people a year search for lighthouses. If can sell to just 1% of those people you stand to make a descent profit.

There’s a lot more to it than this, but none of it is very complicated and all of it is quite easy to learn. Brian Moore who was an armature photographer a couple of years ago now makes a descent living selling photos online and fortunately he is totally willing to share his knowledge. Click here to discover what he has to offer and you could be making money while you sleep.
