supportmyanmar.jpgRight now in Burma, a country with a brutal murderous military junta, there is a struggle going on for freedom, democracy and peace. From far away there is little we can do to help, but at least we can keep the story alive.

I’ve long been a fan of Aung San Suu Kyi. She is the actual elected leader of the Burmese, she has been under house arrest and been put in prison for 16 years and she is a Nobel Peace Prize winner. She came out of her house during the last few days when the protesters passed by her house and apparently was then put in prison.

The Buddhist monks and pro-democracy activists who have carried the protest for the past two weeks are now being fired upon by the military junta, beat with bamboo canes and are being arrest in large numbers.

Needless to say, I’ll be wearing red tomorrow. I will also be keeping in mind that China could keep the Junta from brutalizing the people, because China holds the purse strings. Of course right after China the next biggest trading partner is the UK, and both deserve to have their goods boycotted if they do not play an active role in supporting the people, stopping the killings and brining about change.
